Lecture 1: Prof. Chimni
The NLIU-Centre for Research in International Law organised a two-day lecture by Prof. B.S. Chimni on International Refugee Law and International Trade Law, on 28th and 29th August.
Prof. Chimni retired as the Chairperson of the Centre for International Legal Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi in 2017. He served as a member of the Academic Advisory Committee of the Office of the UNHCR for the period from 1996-2000. Further, he has been a Visiting Professor at the International Centre for Comparative Law and Politics, Tokyo University, a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Harvard Law School as well as a Visiting Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law, Heidelberg.
He provided a comprehensive overview of the topics he dealt with, such as the modern-day trade wars and the refugee conventions. On both the days the sessions turned out to be very interactive and witnessed a vibrant question-answer session.

LECTURE 2: Shreya Jain
For its second guest lecture of the year, CRIL hosted Ms. Shreya Jain, Associate at SAM Mumbai, at NLIU on 28th November, 2019. She spoke on the topic of Necessity under International Law from Financial and Human Rights Perspectives. Further, Ms. Jain took out the time to answer questions from the student body related to higher education in the legal field. We thank her immensely for delivering an enlightening and fascinating lecture.
